Pioneer Wincon
Pioneer Wincon is an established wind turbine manufacturer operating since 1996. Over the past three decades, the company has installed more than 1,000 turbines totalling over 500 MW across diverse wind regimes and evolving grid environments.
The company’s manufacturing journey began in collaboration with Wincon Denmark. Following the Danish company’s exit from wind in 2003, full intellectual property and engineering control transitioned to Pioneer Wincon, forming the foundation for the independently evolved turbine platforms in operation today.
From inception, our focus has been on engineering and delivering sub-megawatt wind systems for grid-connected and distributed applications. We operate in the segment between micro turbines and multi-megawatt machines — serving projects where performance, configurability, and capital discipline are critical.
Pioneer Wincon also brings balance-of-plant expertise, grid integration capability, and experience in wind–solar hybrid deployment. This broader project understanding supports efficient commissioning and long-term asset performance complementing our focus as a turbine manufacturer.
Headquartered in Chennai, India, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Pondicherry and Ranipet. Over 500 turbines remain under active O&M management, providing continuous operational insight that informs engineering refinement and lifecycle optimization.
Today, Pioneer Wincon continues to expand in green field, repowering, and hybrid applications — delivering robust sub-MW turbines engineered for diverse real-world operating conditions.

Leadership Team
Under the leadership of Mr. Annamalai, who connected one of India’s first private wind turbines to the grid in the late 1980s, Pioneer Wincon’s roots trace back to the early foundations of India’s private wind sector.
Established in 1996, the company has since built three decades of experience in wind turbine design, manufacturing, and grid-connected deployment. This early participation in India’s wind industry shaped a leadership philosophy grounded in engineering discipline, cost-of-energy performance, and long-term asset reliability.
S. Annamalai
Director
Mr. Annamalai has been active in India’s wind sector since its early private development phase in the late 1980s. He went on to establish Pioneer’s wind businesses — building both project execution and turbine manufacturing capabilities over three decades.
Under his leadership, Pioneer entered into collaboration with Wincon West Wind Denmark and subsequently assumed full technology ownership and worldwide rights for the 250 kW and 750 kW turbine platforms. This transition laid the foundation for Pioneer Wincon’s independently evolved product family.
A Chemical Engineer from Alagappa College of Technology, Chennai, Mr. Annamalai continues to provide strategic direction grounded in engineering discipline, cost-of-energy focus, and long-term asset reliability.
Pradeep Sankar
Managing Director
Mr. Pradeep leads Pioneer Wincon’s turbine manufacturing and renewable project divisions. With over 15 years of experience in wind project development and turbine engineering, he has overseen over 300 MW of renewable energy projects, including the establishment of the group’s Solar PV EPC division.
He directed the development of the P57 variable-speed pitch turbine platform and introduced a structured value-engineering and cost-discipline framework across design and manufacturing. This focus on engineering efficiency and cost discipline has positioned Pioneer Wincon’s sub-MW turbines among the lowest cost-of-energy offerings in their class.
Pradeep holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
S. Maheswaran
Director
Mr. Maheswaran played a central role in the formation and capitalization of Pioneer Xenergy Pvt Ltd, establishing the group’s renewable energy development and EPC capabilities. His involvement strengthened the integration between turbine manufacturing and project execution within the Pioneer ecosystem.
He has also contributed to the diversification of Pioneer Asia Group into adjacent industrial sectors, including integrated paper manufacturing and non-ferrous forgings, supporting long-term capital allocation and operational expansion.
As a director, he provides strategic oversight with a focus on disciplined growth, capital structuring, and institutional relationships that support the group’s sustained development.
Niranjan Sankar
Director
Mr. Niranjan oversees financial strategy and capital structuring across the group’s renewable and industrial businesses, supporting disciplined project execution and long-term value creation.
He plays a key role in corporate strategy, guiding expansion initiatives and international transactions, including mergers and acquisitions across Japan, Taiwan, and Europe. His cross-sector experience spans textiles, chemicals, non-ferrous forgings, and technology-driven ventures.
An engineering graduate from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IIM Bangalore, Niranjan combines technical grounding with strategic and financial oversight in supporting the group’s growth across global markets.
